Mexico City

Image
Mexico City is the most urbanized city in Mexico and, as a result, the most polluted city in the country. Urban regions are a major source of CO2 emissions and are also the locations that consume the most energy. The Mexican government is currently having an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to develop financially viable projects such as a solar energy project in the city's largest market, an examination of alternative waste management technologies, assistance with the development of the Integrated Public Transportation System, and energy efficiency projects (González, 2019). Agents of the government, multilateral development institutions, and the private sector have all been encouraged to provide more assistance to the government in order to help combat climate change while creating more possibilities for economic growth. Because of this, I think Mexico City is a great example of top-down politics. Even while they work to alleviate the horrible effects o...

Democracy in Colombia and Canada

Image
Democracy in Colombia and Canada  Colombian elections are won by popular vote; a candidate for president must receive 50% plus one vote. If any of the candidates wins the popular vote, a second election will be held with the two most popular candidates, with the winner being the one who receives the most votes. The Canadian elections, on the other hand, are unique in that they are held by popular vote and that all candidates are entitled to compete for president. Candidates who lose in one province can still win if they win in another, increasing voter turnout and ensuring that candidates for president are represented in all provinces. This data is based on the March 31 CNC polling. Sample size as follows: Antioquia and Eje Cafetero (708), Bogotá (439), Caribbean (1,017), Pacific (663), Center-East (887), and Center-South (492)   T...

African immigrants in the Ceuta border. May 18, 2021   Spain and US Inmigartion.  Spain has become a target country for immigrants from Latin America and Africa. Since 2015, the flow of migrants has increased significantly, with Colombians (7.5%) and Moroccans (8.8%) having the highest percentages. Nonetheless, African migrants are now coming in large numbers to the coastal city of Ceuta. In the past year, in the first week of March, 8,000 immigrants from Morroco arrived by swimming in the Spanish territory that is connected to Africa. Most of them were sent back to Morroco because of an agreement between the countries. In the United States, the immigration crisis only worsens with the massive arrival of people, mostly from Central America. Although US Customs and Border Protection encountered 1,734,686 immigrants in 2021, the number of encounters this year is the highest in three years. The immigration cr...

International Women’s Day

Image
DoD Celebrates International Women’s Day, Advances in Gender Equity and Equality The United States Department of Defense commemorated all of its achievements in terms of gender equality in various areas of the department on International Women's Day. Dr. Kathleen H. Hicks, Deputy Secretary of Defense, explains her opinions about the efforts made for women in the profession in the article.“Our work on women, peace, and security is critical not just for U.S. national security, but equally importantly, for the safety, equality, and opportunity of women and girls around the world. We are proud to join the international community in recognizing the achievements of women around the world.”  The department's implementation roadmap was presented last year by the Independent Review Commission on Sexual Assault in the Military (IRC). Given the assassination of Vanessa Guillén on April 22, 2020, this is critical for the Department of Defense. Vanessa had reported being a victim of sexu...
