Mexico City
Mexico City is the most urbanized city in Mexico and, as a result, the most polluted city in the country. Urban regions are a major source of CO2 emissions and are also the locations that consume the most energy. The Mexican government is currently having an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to develop financially viable projects such as a solar energy project in the city's largest market, an examination of alternative waste management technologies, assistance with the development of the Integrated Public Transportation System, and energy efficiency projects (González, 2019). Agents of the government, multilateral development institutions, and the private sector have all been encouraged to provide more assistance to the government in order to help combat climate change while creating more possibilities for economic growth.
